Make Siaya Green Again
Restoring Our Environment. Empowering Our Youth. Growing Sustainable Communities.
Community-Based Agroforestry, Environmental Restoration and Youth Empowerment in Siaya County
Make Siaya Green Again was the first phase of the Siaya Green Initiative, implemented by Potential X-Factor Organization in collaboration with Let's Plant e.V.
The project brought together young farmers, schools, women, and community groups to address environmental degradation, strengthen food security, and create opportunities through climate-smart agriculture and agroforestry.
Addressing Environmental and Economic Challenges Together
Communities in Siaya County face challenges associated with environmental degradation, changing rainfall patterns, food insecurity, and limited economic opportunities for young people.
Rather than focusing only on planting trees, the project sought to strengthen local knowledge, community ownership, and the capacity to sustain restoration activities over time.
Four Goals. One Greener Future.
- 1
Enhance Food Security
Promote practical, space-efficient, and climate-smart agricultural techniques that help communities grow food and make productive use of available resources.
- 2
Empower Young People Economically
Equip young farmers with skills and experience in agriculture, nursery management, and entrepreneurship.
- 3
Increase Green Cover and Climate Resilience
Support tree seedling production, agroforestry, community planting, and environmental restoration across participating locations.
- 4
Support Long-Term Community Transformation
Encourage community ownership, peer learning, and local leadership so that environmental activities can continue beyond the project's initial implementation period.

Growing Bamboo Is Only the Beginning
Potential X-Factor is developing plans to raise funds for a Bamboo Value Addition Center at its offices.
The center is a proposed future initiative and has not yet been established. Fundraising details and implementation milestones will be published once the campaign is approved.
