Youth Empowerment
Equipping young farmers with skills, resources, and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods
Project Overview
Our youth empowerment initiative addresses unemployment and climate change through sustainable agriculture
The Youth Empowerment project is a cornerstone of the Siaya Green Initiative, designed to address the dual challenges of youth unemployment and climate change. By engaging young people in sustainable agriculture, we're creating pathways to economic independence while promoting environmental stewardship.
Our comprehensive approach combines practical skills training, mentorship, and resource provision to equip youth with the tools they need to succeed in agribusiness. We focus on climate-smart agricultural techniques that are both economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

Success Story
Meet James Odhiambo, whose life has been transformed through our youth empowerment program
James's Agribusiness Journey
"After completing high school, I struggled to find employment in Siaya. I had access to a small piece of family land but lacked the knowledge and resources to farm it effectively. Traditional farming methods weren't yielding enough to sustain me, let alone generate income.
Joining the Potential X-Factor youth empowerment program changed everything. I received comprehensive training in climate-smart agriculture and business development, along with the tools and inputs to get started. The mentorship from experienced farmers was invaluable in helping me navigate challenges.
Today, I run a successful mixed farming enterprise, growing vegetables using vertical gardening techniques and maintaining a tree nursery. I've hired two other youth to help with the business, and I'm now training five more young people in my community. My monthly income has more than doubled, and I'm proud to be contributing to both economic development and environmental conservation in Siaya."
